Cava Based Sangria, Perfect Valentine’s Day’s Aperitif

A couple of years ago in Lisbon we came across a beautifully made cava based sangria in a burger joint of all places.

It was so much fun that we decided to make our own. The one we had in t
he bar was more focused on look than taste, we decided to make it more flavorful while keeping it nice. The trick was using a little bit of frozen berries that give off c olor and flavor along with fresh fruit that takes more time to release its flavor.

Ingredients

  • Frozen berries (raspberry and black berry)1A374527-916F-4E1A-BD1F-18DA066A3F25_2
  • Fresh Strawberries
  • Fresh Orange
  • Fresh Apple
  • White Rum
  • Cava
  • Ice

How to make it

  • Put half of the ice in a pitcher.
  • Add frozen berries.
  • Add the rest of the ice.
  • Add fresh fruit.
  • Add Cava.
  • Add a shot of rum to every glass, transfer some of the fruit and ice from the pitcher to each glass, and pour the sangria over it. The drink looks best when you use a burgundy or other large wine glass.
  • Cheers and happy Valentine’s day.

(We do unfortunately not have very nice pictures of the drink anymore, but I believe the ones here show enough.)
